CAD(Phone stand)

Welcome to Week 2 of my blog!
This week, we were tasked to design and make a phone stand.

For this task I present…

THE BONESTAND!

I named it that because I was trying to make it look like a rib cage.

We had to make use of constraints in this process and so I used these values.

To start off, I started by making the short and long “bones” where the phone would lean on and be held up by, respectively. I make these on the x-z plane in the centre.

I used constraints to make them even.

Then, to hold them up, I made a stand for the back. I used a constraint for the height and width so that they would be the same as the horizontal pieces.

After that, I made the base supports which hold the 2 sides together.

I extruded the base supports to cut the horizontal pieces first to make sure they fit.

Then, one by one, I extruded the base support, selecting the option “new body” to make sure that they are different pieces from the side “bones”.

I then extruded the supports to hold them up.

I also added notches for the phone to lay on to prevent it from sliding.

I realized that the stand needed to be more stable so I added a base piece which I cut holes into for the support pieces to slot into.

This is the completed Bonestand!!
